PETROL STATION - ESCALERITAS // Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 2016

The project design comprises a petrol station presented as a small-sized compact module equipped with all the necessary features. The closed customer service and shop section develops horizontally into a canopy, thus creating a prism-shaped body made of grooved concrete. Its North-West face is excavated to make it more inviting for customers to fill up under the shade of the structure.

Featuring an elongated rectangular configuration, its longer axis extends parallel to Parque de los Hermanos Millares and perpendicular to calle Obispo Romo. On its excavated section, the figure has been finished with glass to enable a visual association between its two most characteristic areas. This way, one part of the opening is sheltered by the roof while the other longer section faces South East. Its formal design arises from the geometric features of the site, evenly combining the built volume, the sheltered area and the surroundings.
